Comprehensive BKF Recovery Tool April 13, 2010

SysTools Software recently launched SysTools BKF Repair version 5.1. It is one of the most comprehensive recovery product in recovering windows backup BKF file. Apart from windows backup it also have compeltely revamped its recovery engine for bkf file created using Symantec/Veritas backup tool.

One of the key improvement is its completely new recovery engine. We have now developed our own indigenous 2-phase recovery engine which is unique in the industry and allows better rate of recovery for a corrupt BKF file. The 2-phase recovery does add an overhead on speed of recovery of bkf file. Compare to our previous version the speed have down by 10% but on the recovery front we have improved more than 100%.

As part of our continuous effort to improve our product based on our valued customers feedback we have now added another very strong feature that will really benefit the customers. One of the pain point with SysTools BKF Repair was to scan twice i.e. one at the time of demo and another at the time of full version. This was really painful for customers with large file size.

The 5.1 version does an automatic save of the scan file in the most optimized manner. Unlike other vendors where it have to be explicit, 5.1 version does it on its own. So when the customer purchase and activate the product, after relaunch the product prompts for loading from the previously scanned files. This really save the valueable time for the customer.

On improving overall product quality what we have done is tightening our quality assurance methodology to test the product. We have now added more than 50 test cases which includes testing with different types of corrupted files on the following categories

• Normal BKF File
• System State BKF File
• Veritas BKF Files
• Large BKF Files

This really improved our quality of the product. What we also have done in the process of improving our product is to test many of the self created corrupted files with various other vendors to evaluate how well they placed with us. At many occasion we are at same level but there were many instances where we clearly stand as winner when most of the vendors failed and we were able to recover without any issues. This was more evident with the Veritas based bkf file. Though it is matter of great pride but critics can always say that we programmed based on such corruption issues. Which cannot denied by us. What we would like to claim is that now we stand of fair chance of competing with all other vendors int his space at a better way.

As corruption is always a dicy issue claiming we can recover 100% is blasphemous. What we always claim that we always recover close to 100%. And with this new version our proximity with the 100% have moved more closer than before.
