Convert OST to PST to Solve RPC Connection Issues in Exchange and Outlook January 11, 2011

RPC Connection Issues in Exchange and Outlook: All those email users, work in the Microsoft collaborative messaging environment of Exchange Server and Outlook application, quite often suffer from the problems related to synchronization. Sometimes, OST files of MS Outlook application are not synchronized with the MS Exchange Server.   • The above error message is mostly seen because of the fact that RPC encryption is needed in the default MS Exchange server 2010 RTM configuration whereas it is not used by Outlook 2003.
  • When Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is used and you somehow disable the Encrypt data between the Outlook and Exchange setting of profile.
  • You see the above errors with unusable or orphaned OST files.

 

What Is the Resolution? To resolve the issues, you can do the below steps:

  • First, you can update the existing profiles of MS Outlook 2003 for RPC encryption. This can be done by using customized .prf file
  • Now, manually, you can make your Outlook profile with RPC encryption
  • Always, make sure that encryption requirement on all CAS Servers are disabled
  • Finally, apply Group Policy settings for the update of the existing profiles of MS Outlook with RPC encryption
